CELTIC, Carpathian region. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 22 mm, 13.45 g, 7 h), 'Audoleon monogram' type. Celticized laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. Celticized horseman to right, raising left hand; below horse, stylized Audoleon monogram; before, lyre-shaped ornament; above and to right, zigzag ornaments. Dembski 1343. Flesche 563. Lanz 723. OTA 429/1. A splendid, beautifully toned piece. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
